Well of Uthman (Bi'r Rumah)

The well Uthman ibn Affan bought and gave freely to the Muslims of Madinah.

History and Seerah

Bi'r Rumah in Madinah. When water was scarce after the Hijrah, the Prophet ﷺ asked: 'Who will buy Bi'r Rumah and make his bucket equal to the buckets of the Muslims in exchange for a well in Paradise?' Sayyiduna Uthman ibn Affan (RA) purchased it and made it a perpetual endowment (waqf) for the community.
