Masjid al-Qiblatayn

The mosque of the two Qiblas, linked to the change of the Qibla from Jerusalem to the Kaaba (Quran 2:144).

The Mosque of the Two Qiblas. In 2 AH the Qibla was changed from Jerusalem to the Kaaba: 'Turn your face toward al-Masjid al-Haram' (Quran 2:144). The Prophet ﷺ prayed Asr facing the Kaaba, then a man who had prayed with him passed by people praying in another mosque, still facing Jerusalem, and told them. They turned toward the Kaaba during the prayer (Bukhari 4486). By tradition, this is that mosque.
