Well of Ghars (Bi'r Ghars)

A historic well about 1.5 km northeast of Masjid Quba, linked in the history books to the Prophet ﷺ.

History and Seerah

One of the old wells of Madinah. The history books link it to the Prophet ﷺ; the hadith that he asked to be washed with its water after his death is weak (Ibn Majah 1468, graded Da'if). The well has been restored with stone pavilions.

Visitor tips

A peaceful open garden surrounds the well. Visitors can drink fresh filtered water and view the historic stone masonry.
