The Prophet's mihrab

The prayer niche in the Rawdah that marks where the Prophet ﷺ stood to lead the prayer.

History and Seerah

The mosque had no niche in the Prophet's ﷺ lifetime. Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz added the first one when he rebuilt the mosque, to mark the spot; the present niche is a later restoration.

Visitor tips

It is inside the Rawdah, so you see it during your Rawdah visit. Don't touch or wipe it for blessing.
