Masjid al-Ghamamah

Near the Prophet's Mosque, at the place where the Prophet ﷺ prayed the Eid prayer.

History and Seerah

Located southwest of Masjid an-Nabawi, in the old Musalla (prayer ground). The Prophet ﷺ prayed the Eid prayers at the Musalla (Bukhari 956), and prayed the funeral prayer in absentia there for the Negus (al-Najashi), King of Abyssinia (Bukhari 1245). Its name, 'of the cloud', comes from a later tradition that a cloud shaded him here.
