Masjid al-Fadheekh (Masjid al-Shams)

A historic mosque in al-Awali, southeast of Madinah, linked by tradition to the day intoxicants were forbidden.

History and Seerah

Also known as Masjid al-Shams, east of Quba. When the ban on alcohol was announced, Companions who were drinking fadheekh (date wine) poured it out at once (Bukhari 2464). Later tradition places that event here.
