Arafat and Jabal al-Rahmah

Standing at Arafah on 9 Dhul Hijjah is the main pillar of Hajj. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Hajj is Arafah."

History and Seerah

The crown pillar of the Hajj pilgrimage. The Prophet ﷺ declared: 'Al-Hajj Arafah' (Hajj is Arafah). Here on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah, pilgrims assemble in humble supplication from midday until sunset. The Prophet ﷺ gave his Farewell Sermon in the valley of Uranah, where Masjid Namirah stands, then stood in du'a by the rocks at the foot of Jabal ar-Rahmah until sunset.

Visitor tips

All of Arafah is a place of standing. You do not need to climb the hill.
