Zamzam

The blessed well beside the Kaaba. Its water is free at drinking points across the whole mosque.

History and Seerah

The water sprang up for Hajar and the infant Ismail (peace be upon them) when there was no water in Makkah (Bukhari 3364). The Prophet ﷺ drank it standing (Bukhari 1637) and said Zamzam water is for whatever it is drunk for (Ibn Majah 3062: Sahih according to al-Albani; other scholars grade it weak).

Visitor tips

Look for the Zamzam coolers with cups on every floor; some are cold and some are not. The well itself is under the Mataf and can't be seen. To take some home, buy sealed bottles from authorised sellers.
