Mount Abu Qubais
MakkahHistorical
The iconic sacred mountain bordering the eastern side of Masjid al-Haram, known in tradition as the first mountain placed on earth and the site of the splitting of the moon.
History and Seerah
Historical traditions, not all of them authenticated, say Mount Abu Qubais was the first mountain set on earth and that the Black Stone was kept here during the Great Flood of Nuh (Noah), before Jibril (Gabriel) returned it to Ibrahim (AS). Some reports also link it to the splitting of the moon (Shaqq al-Qamar), when the Quraysh demanded a sign.
