Jabal Thawr and the Cave of Thawr
MakkahHistorical
Where the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Bakr hid for three nights at the start of the Hijrah to Madinah (Quran 9:40).
History and Seerah
A hollow beneath the peak of Mount Thawr where the Prophet ﷺ and his loyal companion Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (RA) took refuge for three nights during their migration (Hijrah) from Makkah to Madinah in 622 CE. When the Quraysh search party stood at the cave's opening, Abu Bakr feared for the Prophet, who comforted him: 'What do you think of two, where Allah is their third?' (Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim). The Quran recalls this moment: 'Do not grieve; indeed Allah is with us' (9:40).
